I was looking at Fasebuk Friday night and saw a ride posted for Saturday as a benefit for Pastor Tim Nelson of Pineview Baptist Church. He is battling cancer.
I had heard about his situation, and wanted to help. Besides, a ride is just what I needed.
My YZF is due for a rear tire, and a chain, so I took the DRZ with what was left of ITS rear tire.
The ride was hosted by Hellfighters Motorcycle Shop in Laurel, and that was the start. There were 13 bikes in all. We had escort from Jones County Sherrif deputys, and once out of Laurel, we continued to be led by "Hutch" on his Sheriff bike.
The route was about 100 miles, and took us out by Archusa Lake, and then back to the church, which is near Lake Boga Homa.
Once at the church, there were fish plates for sale (included with the ride fee), and live music.
Hellfighters donated four gift certificates that were given away. I lucked up and got the first one!
The weather was cool, but consistent. Skys were clear. I really enjoyed it. It was just the break I needed.
